Within the context of the III Interfer Universities Award, this proposal emerges as a response to a challenge combining functionality, innovation, and creative expression: designing the complete furniture for an 18m² student room for two people.

Beyond meeting the basic needs of storage, rest, and study, careful attention was given to how the room would be inhabited. Considering how to share such an intimate space with another person raises themes of privacy, sharing, trust, space, and light.

The project originates from the search for a single gesture that could accommodate all the programs: two study areas, two beds, storage, and vestibules. The solution was a piece of furniture at a uniform height of 80 cm, adapted along the room’s floor plan, allowing uniform light, beds shielded from each other, and a large continuous work surface. Near the entrance, parallel to the bathroom, a cabinet was designed to create a more secluded space with a lower ceiling height.

Material and color choices also reflect the intention to create an environment for the comfort and with the students’ freedom to personalize the space. Light and warm tones, such as the white of the desk, the soft brown of the walls, and the wooden floor, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, serving as a versatile base that easily adapts to objects, routines, and lifestyles of its inhabitants.
